We are part of the regional Coaching and Mentoring Pool organised by West Midlands Employers. Working in partnership we believe coaching and mentoring can have a key role to play in developing staff across the organisation.
Our aim is to equip leaders, resource managers and colleagues with the skills and capability to have more coaching conversations that help to develop our people, focus them on the right activities – providing opportunities to develop their career, and build high performing teams.
You can use the West Midlands Coaching and Mentoring Pool website to search for available coaches in your area. This includes colleagues in our own organisation as well as coaches from other public sector partners in the Pool who will bring an external viewpoint and perspective.
If you apply for coaching or mentoring, you will be encouraged to involve your line manager closely in the process.
We want you to make the best use of this service. You can read more about how to do that here.
The pool is a right match for those who know what they’re trying to achieve, have their Line manager’s approval and are committed to put the time in. On average, coaching requires 2-6 sessions while mentoring is a more long-term commitment. Please keep in mind that your line manager needs to agree and review your goals and should be ready to attend the first session with you.
If you decide coaching or mentoring is for you, discuss this with your manager and their support should be confirmed ideally as part of your Appraisal or a planned 1-1.
To request access to the service please register on the online matching system and complete your profile outlining what you would like to achieve and how you think coaching or mentoring will help. Once you have completed your profile, your request will be reviewed and you will be notified of the next steps.
